To the PCCHL Community:

Welcome back for another season of hockey.  While most people were enjoying their summer vacation, we have been very busy in the background getting things in order for the coming hockey season.  There have been a number of changes to the PCCHL for this coming year.  Firstly, John Gagliardi had decided to step down as President to focus more time with his family.  I would like to personally thank John for all that he has given to hockey in Peterborough over the last few years.  Although he is no longer President, you can still find John at the Arena as the Bantam division convenor.

We have had some other changes in the executive as well.  Ron Sabourin, Mike Mulvaney and Joanne McKillop have all decided to retire as well.  It would be remiss of me not to acknowledge their past contributions.

This brings us to our new members of the Executive.
Kim MacDonald will be our scheduler;
Sanj Sukumaran has taken over my former role as Player Development chair.
Leigh Higley will be taking over as Coaches Chair.
Greg Post will be our new Midget and Juvenile convenor.
And lastly we have added a new position called Convenor At Large which will be filled by Brian McCaw,  Deanna Hayes, Scott Scholey, and Chris Beavis.

We have some new and exciting things planned for this year.
Building on what we have learned with our Development Teams in the past, we have decided to expand this to a true Select Program.  These teams will be called the PCCHL Jr. Nats and will be wearing the Nationals colours.

We have partnered with Canadian Hockey Enterprises to provide an enhanced skating skills instruction.  We are very lucky to have the expertise of an internationally recognized hockey school work with our players to improve their hockey abilities.

Andrew Verner will be providing Goal Tender Clinics for us on regular basis.

We will be hosting at least 3 tournaments this year, including the 3rd annual “Under The Lock” tournament.  The only tournament in the province sanctioned on a body of water.

We are also working on bus trips for our community to an Ottawa Senators game, a Toronto Rock Lacrosse game and possibly a Toronto Marlies game.

I’m looking forward to having a great year seeing everyone at the rink. Remember registration is September 9th and 10th at the Kinsmen.

David Smith
PCCHL President
